Garmin Introduces New Portable GPS Navigators This Spring

Garmin has just announced a new series of seven Auto GPS receivers. Among them are the Garmin nuvi 1250 and the Garmin 1260T GPS navigator. Both of these feature 3.5″ displays while the Garmin 1300 series like the Garmin nuvi 1390T comes with a larger 4.3″ widescreen display. They all feature a super thin design that fits quite easily in your pocket. In fact they are claimed to be 25% slimmer than previous models. They all come with enhanced user interface, public transit mode, ecoRoute, and text-to-speech.

Both the 1250 and 1260 series GPS receivers support two new features that hope to address the concerns of modern travelers. They are the first nüvi device to offer pedestrian navigation capability enabled through optional CityXplorer maps and ecoroute function. The ecoRoute feature provides routes for drivers that use less fuel, and a Fuel and Mileage Report that keeps users up to date on their consumption. These features are available for selected places of interest in USA and Europe.

The Garmin 1250 and 1260T’s enhanced user interface features improved graphics and a new slide control for menu operation. Garmin’s new public transit mode allows you to navigate using buses, metro, tramway, and suburban railway systems.

The 1260T model pushes the upper end by including not only Bluetooth wireless functionality, but also free lifetime traffic updates via NAVTEQ.

With the new clear 3.5 inch LCD screen you can view maps in full details, driving directions, photos, and more in brilliant colors. Its clear and brilliant display with white backlight is easy to read from your driving position or any other angles.

Here is a summary of the Garmin nuvi 1250 and 1260T’s features:

  • High-sensitivity GPS receiver for fast satellite lock; sleek, ultra-slim design fits in a pocket.
  • Pedestrian navigation capability enabled through optional CityXplorer maps; ecoRoute suggests fuel-efficient routes to save drivers money and fuel.
  • Pre-loaded with City Navigtor NT maps for North America, including more than 6 million name-searchable points of interest
